Sean Penn In Talks to Star Alongside Mel Gibson in Professor and the Madman

Sean Penn may join Mel Gibson in Professor and the Madman, an adaptation of Simon Winchester’s bestselling book about the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary. Voltage Pictures is set to produce the film with writer and director Farhad Safinia.

Gibson has been trying to get this film made for over twenty years. He’ll play the professor James Murray, who began compiling the dictionary. Penn would star as Dr. W.C. Minor, who contributes thousands of entries to the project, despite being an inmate at an asylum.
