CBS has handed out a couple of renewals today as Bob Hearts Abishola has been renewed for a third season & The Neighborhood has been renewed for season four.
Both comedies have performed well on Monday nights for the network & they are both multicamera comedies that have been filmed during the pandemic without their traditional live studio audiences. No easy task for comedies like this but they have certainly made it work for CBS. The Neighborhood, starring Cedric The Entertainer & Max Greenfield, ranks as TV’s second most-watched comedy with a reach of more than 7 million viewers. Bob Hearts Abishola, which marks a reunion for Chuck Lorre with Mike & Molly alum Billy Gardell, has collected 6.7 million viewers after moving from its original spot on Thursdays last season. Thom Sherman, senior exec VP programming at CBS, had this to say about the renewals:
“We’re extremely proud of these two comedies and delighted to bring them back next season. The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola masterfully blend humor with relatable and culturally relevant storylines and are tremendous, successful Monday night anchors.”
The two comedies mark the first renewals for CBS this season which came a bit early due to the not traditional season because of the pandemic.
