The Masked Singer Continues To Dominate Wednesday Nights On Fox

In this television landscape, I’m willing to root for any ratings success story and Fox clearly has one on Wednesday nights with The Masked Singer.

On Fox, The Masked Singer led the night for the third week in a row, with the same 2.0 rating in adults 18-49 as its episode last Wednesday. The Masked Singer’s 6.92 million viewer audience was also the third-largest of the night. In terms of the demo, nothing really came close to what The Masked Singer achieved on the night. Almost Family followed with a 0.7 demo rating and 2.33 million viewers, steady with its series premiere last week. I guess we can count that as a small victory because it still drops off severely from its lead-in the demo.

On The CW, Riverdale kicked off its fourth season, with a 0.4 demo rating and 1.18 million viewers, down a tenth from its season premiere last fall, but steady with its third season’s overall 2018-19 averages. Nancy Drew followed at 9:00 PM and got off to a pretty good start on the network, with its series premiere raking in a 0.3 demo score and 1.17 million viewers. It maintained nearly all of Riverdale’s 1.18 million viewer audience and lost just a tenth of its lead-in’s 0.4 rating. The CW has had a pretty stellar premiere week with its returning series coming back steady and its series premieres performing admirably in their first outings.

On NBC, Chicago Med (1.1, 7.47 million viewers) and Chicago P.D. (1.0, 6.34 million viewers) both matched their ratings from a week ago. Chicago Fire, meanwhile, rose from its last outing’s 1.1 demo rating to a season-high 1.2 demo score this week and raked in the night’s largest total audience (7.63 million viewers).

On ABC, The Goldbergs (1.0, 4.49 million viewers) and Single Parents (0.7, 2.68 million viewers) each maintained their ratings from a week ago, but the same could not be said for Schooled (0.7, 3.30 million viewers) and Stumptown (0.6, 3.43 million viewers), both of which fell a tenth week-to-week. Modern Family took the biggest hit of all the ABC shows, ticking down from its previous 1.1 demo score to a series low 0.9 demo rating and 3.95 million viewers.

On CBS, Survivor ticked up week-to-week by a tenth to a 1.2 demo rating and 6.51 million viewers. SEAL Team wasn’t so lucky following Survivor, dropping a tenth week-to-week to a 0.6 demo score and 4.77 million viewers. S.W.A.T. ended the night for CBS and managed to stay steady with a 0.6 demo rating and 3.43 million viewers.

Recapping Wednesday ratings this week, The Masked Singer continues to be kind of the night for Fox while The CW continues to have a good premiere week.
