The Hills: New Beginnings Renewed For Season 2 At MTV

Much like they did with Jersey Shore Family Vacation, MTV has seen success with nostalgia with the revival of The Hills. The new series, titled The Hills: New Beginnings, has just been given a season two renewal by the network.

The series revival brought back Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Frankie Delgado, Whitney Port, Jason Wahler and his wife Ashley Wahler, “Justin Bobby” Brescia, Stephanie Pratt, and Kaitlynn Carter Jenner. New cast additions include The OC’s Mischa Barton and Brandon Thomas Lee, son of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. The show follows the lives of original and new stars navigating career, love, and drama in Los Angeles.

The revival has found success for the network despite not having the involvement of its original star Lauren Conrad or her eventual replacement, Kristin Cavallari. Fans have responded to the revival’s more realistic approach and though the show, during its original six-season run from 2006-2010, was known for its fabricated storylines and cinematic production, Nina L. Diaz, president of entertainment at MTV, said that New Beginnings favors a more authentic approach:

“The title says it all — New Beginnings. This time around the cast are 30-somethings and many are at a pivotal crossroads in their personal and professional journey. The cast let us into their lives to reveal some of the truths of their new reality and their real emotions as they experience these new beginnings.”

The Hills: New Beginnings airs Monday’s at 10 PM on MTV.
