The Haunting Of Bly Manor (Official Trailer)

It’s almost October and that means it’s time to turn up the fright as we head into the Halloween season. Netflix knows exactly what we need and has unveiled the first full trailer for The Haunting of Bly Manor, the second installment in the Haunting anthology horror series from creator and director Mike Flanagan that began with The Haunting of Hill House.

Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen return in a new chilling tale that is described by Netflix as follows:

“Set in 1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.”

The Haunting of Bly Manor takes its frightful cues from the works of Henry James, with specific inspiration drawn from “The Turn of the Screw.” You might want to give that a read before Bly Manor begins haunting us on October 9, 2020, on Netflix or maybe you want the scares to remain a secret as you dive into the nine-episode anthology series. Either way, the show is sure to be one frightening endeavor.

The creative team and many of the cast of Hill House are returning for Bly Manor but the narratives of the two series will not be connected. The first season, The Haunting of Hill House, received critical acclaim, particularly for the acting, directing, and production values. Many critics said the show as a truly “effective ghost story.” Hopefully, the second season lives up to the promise of the first.

The Haunting of Bly Manor hits Netflix on October 9, 2020.
