In today’s television landscape, it’s good news if you return steady in the ratings year-to-year and that gives the season 6 premiere of The Flash reason to celebrate as it returned in a steady fashion last night.
On The CW, The Flash kicked off its sixth season with a 0.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.63 million viewers, steady with its 2018-19 season averages. A rerun of the Batwoman pilot followed it with a 0.3 demo score and 1.11 million viewers, not a bad showing for re-run I might add.
On NBC, The Voice (1.5, 8.42 million viewers) and This is Us (1.6, 7.24 million viewers) remained the night’s highest-rated shows but were down a tenth from their showings a week ago. New Amsterdam stayed on top of the 10:00 PM hour with the same 0.8 demo score and 5.32 million viewers as its last outing.
On ABC, The Conners (1.1, 5.65 million viewers) fell one-tenth from its episode last Tuesday, as did Emergence (0.5, 3.09 million viewers). I’m officially worried about Emergence, even though I hear delayed viewing is good. The live demo number is far too low and keeps slipping but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Bless This Mess actually went the other direction this week, ticking up from a 0.7 to a 0.8 demo score and 3.87 million viewers. mixed-ish (0.7, 3.44 million viewers) and black-ish (0.7, 3.04 million viewers) rounded out the night for ABC, steady with their last episodes.
On FOX, Empire slipped yet another tenth, ticking down from its 0.9 demo rating last week to a 0.8 demo score with 2.87 million viewers this time around. The Resident, however, managed to hold steady with a 0.7 demo rating and 3.61 million viewers for the second week in a row.
On CBS, NCIS slipped from its previous 1.3 demo rating to a 1.1 demo score and 10.98 million viewers this week. However, it was still easily the night’s largest total audience. FBI (0.8, 8.63 million viewers) also fell two-tenths week-to-week, while NCIS: New Orleans (0.7, 6.74 million viewers) stayed even with its last episode.
This week’s Tuesday ratings recap has The CW having another solid night with the steady return of The Flash, as well as a decent showing for the re-airing of their Batwoman pilot. Despite how good Emergence is so far, I’m greatly concerned about its future since the live numbers just aren’t there for the series. Also, can we just say to Empire: Oh how the mighty have fallen. It was once one of the highest-rated shows on television and now it’s going out with a whimper for its final season.
