The Big Bang Theory Goes Out With A Bang In The Ratings For Its Series Finale

The Big Bang Theory aired its final episode last night on CBS and the long-running sitcom ended its 12 season run on a ratings high for the network.

The final episode of the comedy series scored a 3.1 in adults 18-49 and a total of 18 million viewers. Those numbers mark more than a three-and-a-half year high in audience, while matching a one-and-a-half year high in the demo.

The finale seems to be well-received by fans with many calling it “touching” on social media and it seems like television critics thought it ended just as it should. I wasn’t a fan of the show but I respect when a long-running series is able to end as it should for the fans.

Leading out of the series finale, Young Sheldon also hit 16 and 15-month highs with its season 2 finale (13.7 million viewers, 2.2 demo score), while the Big Bang retrospective special did 11.8 million viewers and a 1.8 demo score.
