The Bachelor Tops Monday Night For ABC As Several Series Return From Winter Hiatus

It’s the beginning of January which means ABC is all set with a new cycle of The Bachelor which easily topped the night for programming across all the networks.

On ABC, the season premiere of the reality-competition series averaged a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.03 million viewers across its 3-hour run time. Those premiere numbers not only gave The Bachelor (and ABC) the night’s demo win but also put it noticeably above the 1.5 rating and 5.13 million viewer audience that its previous season’s premiere episode scored a year ago.

On NBC, the season 2 premiere of America’s Got Talent: The Champions placed second in the night’s 18-49 rankings with a series low 1.3 rating. That puts the spin-off series down quite a bit from the 1.8 rating that its series premiere posted last year, though, the series still managed to top The Bachelor in total viewers and raked in the largest audience of the night (8.03 million viewers). The season 2 premiere of AGT: Champions proved to be a solid lead-in for the season 2 premiere of Manifest which returned after a long hiatus to a 0.9 rating and a 4.77 million viewer audience in the 10:00 PM hour. While the series, unsurprisingly, failed to match the massive 2.2 rating that its series premiere scored in the fall of 2018, its numbers last night were on par with how it performed throughout the tail end of its first season last year, an impressive feat considering it has been off the air nearly a year.

On CBS, The Neighborhood returned from the holiday break with a 0.9 demo score, matching its last outing’s demo rating, and generated its largest audience of the season so far (6.91 million viewers). Bob Hearts Abishola (0.8) similarly hit a new season-high in total viewers (6.7 million viewers), and managed to return with a small uptick from its last episode’s 0.7 rating. All Rise (0.5) and Bull (0.6), however, both returned with lower ratings than their previous outings in the demo and 5.91 million viewers and 6.20 million viewers respectively.

FOX and The CW aired repeats for the night.
