While we are a few months away from the beginning of the Oscar season, key dates have been announced by the Academy. The Academy on Monday announced the key dates for the 91st Oscars, which will be once again be broadcast by ABC on Feb. 24, 2019. The date of the awards will be a few weeks early from 2018’s award show.
The reason for the change of date in this years award show is based on the Winter Olympic’s taking place during the shows traditional time frame. While the Oscar season kicks off around September with the festivals taking place, the Academy’s awards season will officially kick off Nov. 18, when it holds its annual Governors Awards.
As 2019 begins, the nominations voting will begin Monday, Jan. 7, and close a week later on Monday, Jan. 14. A week later, the nominations will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
For next years Oscars, the final voting will start on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and close on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
