As news broke that former Silicon Valley star T.J Miller was accused of sexual assault and violence by an anonymous woman in a Daily Beast story, Comedy Central has canceled T.J. Miller’s animated series The Gorburger Show after only one season.
Despite the accusations, a rep for the network claims that the decision to not move forward with a second season of the show was decided before the allegations. The woman alleges that while she and Miller were seeing each other in college at George Washington University in 2001, the actor strangled her and punched her in the mouth during sex. She also said he penetrated her anally without her consent, and later did the same with a beer bottle.
Miller has already denied the claims, in a statement saying,
“using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations.” The married couple added that they think it is “unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators. We stand together and will not allow this person to take advantage of a serious movement toward gender equality by allowing her to use this moment to muddy the water with an unrelated personal agenda.”
Time will tell what the outcome will be on the latest accusation of sexual harassment in Hollywood.
