Former Silicon Valley star, T.J. Miller was arrested for allegedly “intentionally conveying to law enforcement false information about an explosive device on a train traveling to Connecticut,” according to a press release from the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. The threat Miller allegedly made was on March 18.
According to authorities, Miller allegedly called 911 and told the dispatcher he was on an Amtrak Train traveling from Washington, D.C., toward Penn Station in New York City and that a female passenger “has a bomb in her bag.”
After Miller called the authorities, the train was stopped in Connecticut at Green’s Farms Station in Westport. All passengers were taken off the train and bomb squad members searched the area. The authorities stated,
“No evidence of any explosive device or materials was detected,”
Miller appeared Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven and was released on a $100,000 bond, according to authorities. The charge carries a maximum term of five years in prison.
The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, Connecticut State Police, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, Amtrak Police Department and Westport Police Department.
Miller has yet to comment on the accusations.
