After months of teasing the film’s production, Sylvester Stallone has confirmed that the first trailer for Creed 2 will be released later today. The release comes three years after Ryan Coogler directed Creed, the surprise hit of 2015. The film revitalized the Rocky franchise and fans have been greatly anticipating the upcoming sequel.
The sequel entitled Creed 2 will see Coogler leaving the directing chair and replaced by Steven Caple Jr. (The Land). Coogler will serve as an executive producer.
The cast sees both Jordan and Stallone return to their respective fighting roles, as well as Tessa Thompson. A bit of nostalgia is included too with Dolph Lundgren reprising his role as Ivan Drago. This isn’t just a nostalgia play, though, and is integral to the story.
Stallone originally confirmed on Instagram that the first trailer for Creed 2 is set to be released sometime tomorrow, along with the first poster of the film. His post has since been removed, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it happens for us.
