Superman & Lois Renewed For Season 2

Superman & Lois will fly high for a second season at The CW. It has been announced that the network has renewed the series for season 2.

The pickup arrives after the Greg Berlanti-produced DC Comics premiered last week to best numbers for a DC series since 2019. CW CEO Mark Pedowitz had this to say about the renewal:

“The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment..We are thrilled to now have two brand-new bona fide hits in Superman & Lois and Walker, both of which have been renewed for next season along with 11 other of our shows, further positioning us for continued strength and stability for next season.”

Superman & Lois, starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, was picked up straight-to-series at The CW when the show was announced. The CW is a firm believer in the pilot process but Superman & Lois, along with Jared Padalecki’s Walker reboot, skipped that process with a series order to get a jump on scripts ahead of the standoff between writers and their agents. The decision had paid off because both shows earned speedy renewals & Superman & Lois earned stellar reviews. As of this writing, the show is 85% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

After the show’s live premiere, The CW says it also delivered the largest day-one streaming audience for a new series in its history. Delayed viewing saw the series debut grow to 2.7 million total viewers.
