For years, there have been leaked artwork for a Batman comic series based on the Tim Burton Batverse and it looks as though, we are finally entering that world once more. Tim Burton’s 1989 and Richard Donner’s 1978 Superman: The Movie are both getting sequels in comic book form. DC Comics has announced that both properties will continue via the comics this July.
Batman 89 will bring back the film’s screenwriter Sam Hamm and he will team up with artist Joe Quinones to “pull on a number of threads left dangling” after the events of the 1989 film.
The book will star Michael Keaton’s Batman and it also promises to reintroduce Selina Kyle/Catwoman, portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s Batman Returns. Along with those two, the upcoming cominc will introduce the first Burton-esque Robin, and finally complete the promise of Harvey Dent full Two-Face form as the Billy Dee Wiliams version of the character from the 1989 film.
