Super Bowl LIII Demo and Viewer Numbers Arrive, Down 5% Year-To-Year To 10 Year Low

The preliminary numbers indicated that Super Bowl LIII would mark a 10 year low for the big game but the official demo and total viewer numbers have been released and it’s still maintaining that “record.”

Last night’s game which featured the Patriots vs. Rams game averaged a 27.9 in the 18-40 demo with 87.72 million viewers, down from the early 30.9 rating and 103.40 million viewers that last year’s Super Bowl game scored on NBC. Last year’s game eventually adjusted to a 33.4 final rating in the demo with 103.39 million viewers. As reported earlier today, in the metered markets, the game posted a 44.9 household rating, not only down from the 2018 game, but making it the lowest-rated Super Bowl in the measure since the 2009 game’s 42.1 rating. I suppose these are ratings deserving of the lowest scoring Super Bowl game in NFL history.

CBS’ post-game series launch for The World’s Best grabbed an 8.6 demo score with 26.24 million viewers in adults 18-49 from 10:30-11 p.m., landing lower than the 9.3 demo rating and 26.97 million viewers that NBC’s postgame This is Us broadcast scored in the same time slot last year.
