CBS Films & Lionsgate have released the first official, full-length trailer for Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark & it looks like it’s going to be one spooky experience.

The film is based on the series of short stories by Alvin Schwartz and takes place in 1968, revolving around a young girl with horrible secrets who lives in a mansion on the edge of town. A group of teenagers stumble upon the mansion and are then led to discover the true horrors that await.

Andre Ovredal is helming the project while Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman take on screenplay duties with a “story by” credit to Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro and Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan.

Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark hits screens on August 9
