The entire gang will be back for the next season of American Idol. After securing judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie & Luke Bryan back in August, ABC has signed host Ryan Seacrest to a new deal to continue on the show.
Seacrest has hosted the show for 17 seasons (15 on Fox and 2 on ABC) and is pretty much the only consistent face of the American Idol brand at this point. Seacrest had this to say about returning:
“American Idol has been my home for 17 seasons and I can’t wait to return to the stage. It’s the greatest gift to be able to play a part in discovering a new talent with a franchise that has been such a relevant part of American culture for so many years.”
Seacrest will continue to be one of the busiest men alive as he will continue to shuttle between Idol’s home in Los Angeles and New York, where he’s co-host and executive producer of daytime show Live With Kelly and Ryan. He also hosts a syndicated morning radio show and a weekly Top 40 show and ABC’s annual New Year’s Rockin Eve Special.
American Idol’s audition tour for season 18 wraps up Saturday in Chicago and the show will return in early 2020.
