The official teaser trailer for Rocketman has been released and it looks like Taron Egerton channels Elton John in the best way possible.
Rocketman explores John’s life from his early days at the Royal Academy of Music on through to his rise to music superstardom in the 1970s and beyond. The film likewise covers the formation of his partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell), as well as his relationship with his mother, Sheila Eileen (Bryce Dallas Howard).
The film was written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) and reunites Egerton with Dexter Fletcher, the director of his acclaimed biographical sports dramedy Eddie the Eagle. As evidenced by the trailer, Egerton will be doing some of his own singing in the film, including performing the titular Elton John tune.
A first look image of Taron Egerton in the film was released last week and can be viewed below. Rocketman hits screens on May 31, 2019.
