Robert Longstreet Joins Halloween Kills As A Character From The 1978 Film, Lonnie Elam

Halloween Kills is continuing to pull characters from 1978’s Halloween to add to its roster. First Anthony Michael Hall was cast as Tommy Doyle, originally portrayed by Brian Andrews in the first film and then last week it was announced that Kyle Richards would be reprising her role as Lindsey Wallace from that film as well. There are also rumored returns for Charles Cyphers as Sheriff Brackett and Nick Castle also playing “The Shape” in some capacity in the film. Today we now have news that Robert Longstreet, will be playing Lonnie Elam, a character also introduced in John Carpenter’s classic.

If you recall, Elam originally appeared in the original film as the bully to young Tommy, with references being made in last year’s installment in which Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson is dating Lonnie’s son Cameron and that Lonnie became a delinquent in his teenage and early adult years, taking to drugs. Robert Longstreet is known for his roles in Sorry to Bother You and The Haunting of Hill House.

It seems like Halloween Kills is pulling out all the stops to fully connect itself to the story that began in the 1978 film. Halloween 2018 ignored all of the sequels so the only timeline that matters is the one created by Carpenter in 1978.

Halloween Kills is being shot back-to-back alongside the third installment, Halloween Ends. Not much is known about either film but Jamie Lee Curtis is returning as Laurie Strode along with Judy Greer as her daughter and Andi Matichak as her granddaughter Allyson. Behind the scenes, David Gordon Green is returning to direct and will once again be co-writing the film with Danny McBride, along with newcomers Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier. John Carpenter is also returning to helm the score for both films.

BTW, not everyone is incredibly excited that Tommy Doyle won’t be played by Brian Andrews, who played him as a child in the 1978 film. Fans have created a petition to bring back Andrews in the role. Here is an excerpt from the petition:

“Blumhouse has brought Jamie [Lee] Curtis, Charles Cyphers, and Nick Castle back to reprise the roles they originated in Halloween (78) yet they have the audacity to recast the pivotal role of Tommy Doyle for Halloween Kills. Rather than casting the iconic Brian Andrews to again recite unforgettable lines like ‘But you can’t kill the Boogeyman,’ ‘The Boogeyman’s outside,’ and ‘Was that the Boogeyman?’, producers, for some inexplicable reason have cast Anthony Michael Hall to play Tommy Doyle in the new films. As Halloween purists, we find this decision to be outrageous, audacious, and wildly offensive and we must take a stand. And so, we demand producers bring Brian Andrews back to theHalloween franchise.”

Halloween Kills opens on October 16, 2020.
