Robert De Niro In Talks To Join Joaquin Phoenix In Joker Movie

After being rumored some time ago, it has officially been announced that Robert De Niro is in advanced talks to join Todd Phillip’s Joker origin movie alongside Joaquin Phoenix.

De Niro would be playing a talk-show host who plays a part in driving Phoenix’s character to go mad and become the Clown Prince of Crime.

De Niro has stayed away from superhero fare but Phillip’s pitch enticed him according to insiders because it will resemble an 80s crime noir film. As stated before, the talks have been rumored for weeks but it looks like both sides are finally ironing out all the financials to get the deals in place. It’s also being reported that De Niro is not playing a villain in the film.

The Untitled Joker Origin Movie, which is also being co-written by Phillips along with Scott Silver, is slated to be released on October 9, 2019.
