Reel TV Ratings: The Last O.G. Sets Ratings Premiere Record For TBS

Tracy Morgan returned to TV this week in The Last O.G. and it looks like his fans missed him because the series premiere set a ratings record for TBS.

The new series drew 1.8 million total viewers, with 882K in the key 18-49 demo in Live+same day. That marks the biggest cable comedy premiere since 2016, the largest scripted cable comedy premiere since 2015 and the strongest TBS original debut ever, according to the network and Nielsen. The total-viewers number is projected to hit 1.25 million in Live+7. In addition, more than 6.9M total viewers (3.3M 18-49) tuned into the show over a three-night, five-telecast launch on TBS and TNT following the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four.

The series is a big get for TBS who picked up the series after FX passed on it during the pilot stage. The series was redeveloped by TBS after they picked it up.

The Last O.G. centers on Tray (Tracy Morgan), an ex-con released from a 15-year prison stint to a changed and unfamiliar world. Returning to his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, Tray discovers that his former girlfriend Shay (Tiffany Haddish) is married to another man and has been raising Tray’s twins, who he never knew existed.
