Reel TV Ratings: (Monday) – Crisis On Earth X Crossover Starts Strong On Supergirl & Arrow

It’s The CW’s favorite time of the year! Their annual crossover event between their DCTV shows has proven to be quite the rating bonanza for the network and this year is no different. Both Supergirl & Arrow (the latter airing on a special night due to the crossover) saw rating bumps for both of their shows.

Both shows drew season highs in both adults 18-49 (0.9 ratings for both) and total viewers (2.65 million for Supergirl, 2.54 million for Arrow). Each had been averaging a 0.5 in adults 18-49 for the season, so the crossover provided an 80 percent lift. In the past the bump usually only lasts the week of the crossover and doesn’t tend to bring new viewers to the shows if you aren’t a loyal viewer already but I’d argue that this may be true for live viewing, but I would suspect that streaming and DVR numbers for the shows probably see gradual increases after the crossovers.

The Good Doctor’s 1.8 & 9.53 million viewers, pending updates, is currently even with last week’s numbers. It may dip a tad due to a Monday Night Football pre-emption but it’s still by far the top-rated scripted show on Monday nights by a large margin.

Man with a Plan (1.1, 5.65 million viewers) and 9JKL (0.9, 4.61 million viewers) each rose a tenth for CBS, while Kevin Can Wait (1.2, 6,29 million viewers), Superior Donuts (1.0, 5.14 million viewers) and Scorpion (0.9, 5.44 million viewers) held steady with last week.

FOX aired repeats for the night.

Check back next week to see if The CW’s Supergirl benefits from the crossover surge it saw this week!
