Shortly after being named one of Netflix’s 10 most popular series of 2019, the streamer has handed out a season 2 renewal to Raising Dion, the superhero drama executive produced by Michael B. Jordan.
Carol Barbee is set to return as showrunner for the series which stars Alisha Wainwright & Ja’Siah Young as the titular hero of the show. The first season debuted on Netflix in October and follows Nicole (Wainwright), who raises her son Dion (Young) after the death of her husband (played by Michael B. Jordan). The everyday dramas of being a single mother are made even more complicated when Dion starts to manifest several mysterious abilities. It’s now Nicole’s mission to keep her son’s gifts a secret with the help of Marks’s best friend (Jason Ritter) and keep him safe from people out to exploit him while trying to figure out where his abilities came from.
Raising Dion received other bragging rights to go along with being one of the most popular series of 2019 on Netflix. It was also announced that the show was the streamer’s #1 most popular kids and family series of last year which went a long way to guaranteeing its renewal for a second season.
