Film critics are continuing to name their very best of the year and The Philadelphia Film Critics Circle has given Best Picture honors to the ensemble critical hit, Knives Out.
Knives Out topped the runner up for the prize, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but despite claiming Best Picture, Rian Johnson did not win Best Director for helming the film. The honor went to Martin Scorsese for his mob drama, The Irishman. Knives Out did claim the Best Screenplay prize, however.
In the acting categories, Lupita Nyong’o continues to gain momentum as she claimed Best Actress for Jordan Peele’s, Us. Best Actor honors went to Adam Driver for Marriage Story while Supporting Actress went to Florence Pugh for Little Women. The Supporting Actor category ended up in a tie between Brad Pitt for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Joe Pesci for The Irishman.
