While many felt the final season of Game of Thrones failed to stick the landing, it hasn’t stopped HBO from diving back into George R.R. Martin’s world. In 2019, the network gave a straight-to-series order to House of the Dragon, a prequel series set 300 years before Game of Thrones based upon George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” a Targaryen history book which chronicles the history of House Targaryen.
While the series is still ways away, it’s been announced that Paddy Considine has been brought on to headline House of the Dragon. Considine has been cast to play King Viserys Targaryen, who has been chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen. Prior to the casting news, Considine has been featured in TV shows such as Peaky Blinders and The Outsider. The ten-episode series was co-created by George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal.
