Outmatched Canceled After One Season At Fox

It’s one and done for the Fox comedy Outmatched. The network has decided to cancel the series after only one season.

The writing was on the wall for this one because it was widely being reported that the multi-cam comedy was in danger. Starring Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson, the show never seemed to click in the ratings, averaging a mere 2.4 million total viewers, and the network had concerns about the creative direction of the series which made its cancellation easier to execute. That being said, the Fox is very fond of Biggs and Lawson and may try to get them for other network shows.

Outmatched was the only new live-action comedy introduced by Fox this season and it followed a working-class couple raising their genius kids in South Jersey. This only leaves the thriller Prodigal Son awaiting renewal news and reports say its renewed is pretty much a done deal and is only contingent on finalizing deals and locking in Michael Sheen’s schedule, who is a co-lead on the show.
