Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Set For Re-Release This Weekend With Additional Scenes

Following its premiere at Cannes, there was talk of Quentin Tarantino adding more scenes to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and now that talk has become reality It has officially been announced that Sony will re-release the film, just in time for another awards season push, in around 1,500 theaters on Friday

Four additional and never before seen scenes will be added, book-ending the new print. Adrian Smith, President of Domestic Distribution, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, had this to say about the re-release:

“Audiences have shown tremendous support for this movie, and we look forward to offering them another opportunity to see the film as it’s meant to be seen – in theaters on the big screen – with more sights and sounds of the sixties from Quentin Tarantino as an added treat.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opened during the final weekend of July with a career-best opening for Tarantino of $41 million. The film has gone on to $139.8 million to date at the domestic box office and $368.3 million worldwide. As for its Oscar chances, they’re pretty high with the film likely to be a contender in several major categories including Best Picture & Director. It was recently announced that Leonardo DiCaprio will be competing in the Best Actor category while Brad Pitt, although not campaigning this year, will be pushed for Best Supporting Actor by the studio.
