The Odd Couple Cancelled After Three Seasons

The latest adaptation of Neil Simon’s 1965 play by the same name, The Odd Couple has been canceled. The latest reboot starred Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon as Oscar Madison and Felix Unger, the mismatched bachelor roommates. This seems unsurprising as it appeared ready for cancellation in November when CBS decided not to extend its 13-episode order. In its third season, the series only averaged a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5 million total viewers. For a network in which its comedies draw very well, this seemed like the nail in the coffin in this reboot.

Back in March, CBS gave out 18 series renewals and The Odd Couple being one of the only shows not on the list to be renewed. The shows on that list that were renewed included The Big Bang Theory, Mom, and Life in Pieces; and dramas including Blue Bloods and Madam Secretary; newsmagazines 48 Hours and 60 Minutes; and reality series Survivor.
