Nina Dobrev To Return To The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries fans can celebrate! Nina Dobrev has announced that she will return to the show for the series finale.

Dobrev made the announcement on her Instagram page with a photo of the series finale script. Because of this we know that the series finale title will be “I Was Feeling Epic.”

Executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson addressed news of Dobrev’s return Thursday (Jan. 26) morning. “I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended – with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” says Julie Plec. Kevin Williamson adds, “I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!”

When she left the show after Season 6, Nina Dobrev made it clear she was open to (and planning on) returning to The Vampire Diaries when the show finally came to a close, so we can’t exactly call this shocking news. There’s a reason they put Elena into a deep sleep instead of killing her off — they knew they needed her back for the epic ending.

The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
