New The Fly Remake Planned by 20th Century Fox

A new remake of The Fly is being planned by 20th Century Fox. Deadline is reporting that J.D. Dillard (Sleight) is in talks to direct the remake and would co-write the screenplay with Alex Theurer.

This would be a retelling of the original 1957 short story that inspired an array of films – the 1958 film starring Vincent Price, 1959 and 1965 sequels, Return of the Fly and Curse of the Fly and most famously, the 1986 David Cronenberg reboot starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis, and the 1989 sequel, The Fly II. The 1986 film garnered an Academy Award for make-up.

No release date has yet been set for the remake.
