In what may be a hint at the quality of the film, Netflix has picked up the global rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel from Legendary Pictures.
The deal continues the relationship between the streamer and Legendary as they teamed up on Enola Holmes, which starred Mille Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill.
Per the movie’s official synopsis,
“The new film, a continuation of Tobe Hooper’s shocking 1974 seminal horror classic, marks the return of Leatherface, re-introducing one of the most iconic villains of the horror genre to a whole new generation.”
The film stars Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouéré, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, and Jolyon Coy.
The film, which was directed by David Blue Garcia last year in Bulgaria, is also produced by Fede Alvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues via their Bad Hombre banner & while an official release date hasn’t been revealed, it would not surprise me if the film hits the steamer in October.
