The nominations for the MTV Movie & TV Awards have been announced and it’s clear that this is the anti-Oscars. You won’t fight films like The Shape of Water or Phantom Thread here but film and TV that made an impact on pop culture are on deck as Black Panther and Stranger Things leads the nominations.
Black Panther has seven nominations on the film side while Stranger Things holds it down with six nominations for TV. The ceremony is set for June 18 at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles to be hosted by stand-up comedian and Girls Trip breakout Tiffany Haddish (also a nominee this year for Best Comedic Performance). Until last year, the annual ceremony was known as the MTV Movie Awards but now it celebrates television and it has gender-neutral categories to mix things up a bit.
