Mortal Kombat Film Finds Its Sub-Zero

The next attempt at a video game adaptation is on its way and New Line’s Mortal Kombat film has found its Sub-Zero.

Actor and martial artist Joe Taslim will be playing the highly popular character in the live-action adaptation of the video game.

The film is set to be produced by James Wan and his Atomic Monster, which will also be the feature debut of veteran commercial director Simon McQuoid.

While little is known about the plot, the video game generally centers on a roster of character fighters from different realms in a fictional universe battling for supremacy.

For those unaware, the successfully video game franchise first released in 1992, and has sold over 49 million copies, spanning over a dozen canon games and expansions, making it one of the most profitable video game franchise of all time.

Taslim’s is the first deal to close for an acting role for the film, which is set to shoot later this year in southern Australia.
