CBS’ Mom just made a move to cement itself as one of their biggest comedies after The Big Bang Theory ends its run this season. The network has given the comedy series a two-season renewal for season 7 and 8, respectively.
The renewal comes with new deals for its two main stars, Allison Janney and Anna Faris. The sizable salary increases for the two season renewal is said to mirror Big Bang’s most recent renewal agreement which secured its cast for two more years, including its final season. It hasn’t been announced if season 8 will be Mom’s last.
This season, Mom is averaging 10 million viewers per week and ranks as the No. 3 most-watched comedy on television, behind only Big Bang and Young Sheldon. It also ranks as a top five comedy among adults 25-54. It’s possible that Mom could be their most-watched comedy next season with Big Bang vacating. Some think Young Sheldon gets a boost airing after its parent show so it will be interesting to see what happens when Big Bang exists the canvas.
