Midsommar (Official Trailer)

A trailer for Midsommar has been released & it looks like Ari Aster, the man behind last year’s polarizing Hereditary, is about to get the same reaction with his latest film.

The new trailer offers a bit more insight into the characters and their trauma, focusing on Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor), an American couple who are on the verge of breaking up when a personal tragedy keeps them together. Their roughly-patched relationship comes just in time for Christian’s long-planned bro-trip to a remote Swedish village, where the citizens are celebrating a midsummer festival that occurs once every 95 years. Suffice to say, things don’t go as planned.

Aster previously called Midsommar “a breakup movie, in the same way that Hereditary is a family tragedy,” and called the film “Wizard of Oz for perverts”. So yeah…take that as you will haha. In all seriousness, I loved Hereditary so I’m all in on this & A24 rarely disappoints.

Also starring William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgran, Archie Madekwe, Ellora Torchia, and Will Poulter, Midsommar arrives in theaters on July 3.
