Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Renewed For Season Six At ABC

They made fans sweat a bit but ABC finally renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a sixth season.

The order is for 13 episodes, making it the first time the always-on-the-bubble series hasn’t been picked up for the typical 22 episode order. There is also no word, as of yet, if this will be the final season of the show.

Despite its low live ratings, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a strong DVR gainer and an even stronger international seller for ABC Studios, as well as a marketing platform for Marvel. Even with DVR lifts, Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Live+7 adults 18-49 average for this season is a so-so 1.2 rating. The series was moved to Friday night’s last season so its numbers were decent on the typically low-rated night.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie and Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez.
