After taking a break from the festivities last year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is expected to make a return to the big Hall H showcase at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
Nothing is set in stone as to what they will bring to the table but they’re coming off of an incredible year with the mega box office performances of Captain Marvel & Avengers: Endgame. Spider-Man: Far From Home opens on July 2, just weeks before the big convention and it’s safe to say that film will just add to their list of accolades.
The Hall H panel could go either way. It could be a celebration of what the Cinematic Universe has accomplished since launching with Iron Man in 2008 or, wishful thinking, they could preview what’s to come. Black Widow, a prequel starring Scarlett Johansson, has already begun filming so it’s possible we could get some footage from that film. Then there is The Eternals, an adaptation of the 1976 Jack Kirby comic property, which has not begun filming but it has rounded out its cast with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Richard Madden under the direction of Chloe Zhao.
Shang-Chi, from director Destin Daniel Cretton, is also on the way but I’m not entirely sure what stage that film is in and then there is Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange 2, which announced that the director would be returning some time ago although no other real news has been released.
Marvel is also coming off of the Disney-Fox merger so there will be a lot of talk about what Kevin Feige will do with the X-Men-Deadpool-Gambit-Fantastic Four universe? This could be a case of too early to tell but some hints about phase 4 would be greatly appreciated.
Speaking of the Disney-Fox merger, Hall H would be a great opportunity to talk about the Disney+ series which include Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, and other confirmed streaming series for Falcon, Vision, and Scarlet Witch. There is also buzz on a Hawkeye series but the news has been mum on that since it was announced as a potential series.
Who knows what they will do but Marvel is already making their presence known in San Diego a month ahead of the event:
