Marvel and Disney Will Not Rehire James Gunn

After last months shocking firing of James Gunn, fans have been wondering if Disney would rehire Gunn after overwhelming support by both fans and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy. We now have our answer as Gunn will not be brought back as director.

After a meeting between Disney execs and Gunn, a new report indicates that Disney is standing firm and will not bring back James Gunn.

First reported by Variety, Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn met with Gunn on Tuesday, in what is being described as a “courtesy,” and that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was not in attendance. Despite the fact that Feige did support the rehiring of Gunn, he has stated that he will respect Disney’s choice to not bring Gunn back.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is rumored to be released in 2020 and despite Gunn being replaced as director of the film, it is likely they will use Gunn’s script according to the Variety report.
