Another film is taking on the lockdown and global pandemic but at least this one seems light and fun and is more about the lockdown than the virus itself.
Locked Down is a romantic comedy heist film directed by Doug Liman and written by Steven Knight. The film follows a quarreling couple that makes peace in order to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic and pull off a jewelry heist at the department store Harrods. The movie stars Anne Hathaway, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Stephen Merchant, Mindy Kaling, Lucy Boynton, Dulé Hill, Jazmyn Simon, with Ben Stiller and Academy Award® winner Ben Kingsley.
This is the third lockdown/pandemic movie to come out during COVID-19 after Host, a particularly good horror film on Shudder, and Songbird, which was greeted with poor reviews and comments of it being a film that was presented in very poor taste, back in December. If Locked Down is done right, I think this could be some good escapism fun and at least the talent and behind the scenes talent is top-notch on this one.
Locked Down hits HBO Max on January 14.
