Leonardo DiCaprio in final talks to play cult leader Jim Jones

Now this feels like Leo’s second Oscar may be on the way

Deadline has reported that Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio is in final talks to star as Jim Jones for MGM. Jim Jones was the preacher behind the People’s Temple, a religious group that wound up building a commune called Jonestown in Guyana that came to an end when he orchestrated a mass suicide that took over 900 lives.

Jim Jones is set to be written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level), with Deadline saying that MGM grabbed the rights in a seven-figure deal. In addition to playing Jim Jones, Leonardo DiCaprio will also produce the movie through his Appian Way production company.
