Last Man Standing Continues To Lead Friday Nights While ABC’s New TGIF Line-up Has Soft Start

Despite coming down from its premiere last week, Last Man Standing still held well considering it had increased competition from the ABC comedy line-up, which did not premiere as strong as ABC was hoping.

On FOX, Last Man Standing won the night yet again in the adults 18-49 demo, despite falling five-tenths from the 1.8 its premiere scored last week to a 1.3 rating and 6.04 million viewers. It was followed by The Cool Kids at 8:30 p.m., which took a similar but lesser hit with its second episode, down four-tenths from a 1.5 to a 1.1 demo rating and 4.84 million viewers. Hell’s Kitchen rounded out the night on the network with a 0.8 demo score and 2.76 million viewers, just a tenth lower than its premiere.

On ABC, the kickoff of the new TGIF lineup didn’t go as well, starting with the back-to-back season premieres of Fresh Off the Boat (0.6, 2.86 million viewers) and Speechless (0.6, 2.45 million viewers), both of which were predictably down from their Tuesday and Wednesday night averages last season, respectively, and lost to the FOX competition in both the 8 and 8:30 p.m. time slots. The people of Last Man Standing may be laughing at ABC since that series was once the Friday standout on that network before they let it go.

On CBS, MacGyver (0.7, 5.77 million viewers) matched its premiere in the demo, while both Hawaii Five-O (0.8, 7.26 million viewers) and Blue Bloods (0.8, 8.50 million viewers) were down a tenth week-to-week.
