La La Land Breaks Golden Globe Record With Seven Wins

La La Land is making a case it’s the one to beat on Oscar night by dominating the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards with a record seven wins!

The film was nominated for seven awards last night and that means it swept every category it was in. A lot of critics have accused the Musical/Comedy category at the Golden Globes for being a spot for second-tier films but La La Land makes a strong case against this. The previous record for most wins was One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest in 1975 with six wins and Midnight Express in 1978, also with six wins.

Moonlight did win Best Drama so I see that film being the biggest competition against La La Land come Oscar night and the Best Actor race might be problematic once Ryan Gosling has to go head to head with Casey Affleck who is the front-runner in that race. Nevertheless, La La Land is the darling of this award’s season and due to its originality, it deserves to be.
