Kit Harington & Gemma Chan Join Ensemble Cast Of Marvel’s The Eternals

The already sizeable ensemble cast of Marvel’s The Eternals continues to grow. It was announced at the D23 Expo that Game of Thornes’ Kit Harington & Crazy Rich Asians’ Gemma Chan has joined the cast.

Harington will play Dane Whitman, who in the comics is the superhero, Black Knight. Oddly enough, Harington joins his former Thrones co-star Richard Madden, who is also in The Eternals. Kevin Feige brought out the cast of Eternals, with Angelina Jolie getting a standing ovation and it’s here that it was officially announced that Gemma Chan was also joining the cast after it had been announced she was in talks.

Chan, who also joined the cast on stage, will be playing Sersi, an Eternal who has a relationship with Black Knight in the comic books. Chan has already appeared in an MCU  film having played the Kree sniper Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. This is either proves how much they like Chan or they just know casual viewers wouldn’t really realize she was in it.

Also announced to be joining the cast is Barry Keoghan who will be playing Druig. In the comics, the character switches sides from good to bad on several occasions so it’s possibly Keoghan will be playing both sides of the character. Keoghan has appeared in Dunkirk, American Animals and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

The Eternals will also star Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayak, Kumail Nanjiani, and Bryan Tyree Henry among others and is set for release on November 6, 2020. The characters were created in 1976 by Jack Kirby and it follows an ancient race of supreme beings (referred to as “Space Gods,” though comic fans know them better as The Celestials) who come to the Earth and created three divergent races from a common ancestor called humans, Eternals, and Deviants.
