Katherine Heigl is prepping for her next TV gig. The actress has landed the female lead in the CBS pilot Our House. Heigl will also serve as an executive producer on the multi-camera comedy pilot that comes from Sony Pictures TV and CBS TV Studios. Malcolm Barrett had already been cast as the male lead some time ago.
Our House centers on a devoted dad, Shawn (Barrett), and mom, Bridget (Heigl), who are committed to raising their children with the love and support the mom never got as a kid but discover how difficult that is with her insane parents and siblings back in the picture. Heigl’s Bridget tries her best to be a laid-back, progressive parent like her therapist husband, but often finds herself reverting to the old school style of her parents. Now that she’s moved back into her childhood home, surrounded by her parents and crazy siblings, finding a balance between these wildly different parenting styles is going to be more difficult than she imagined.
Heigl rose to fame on Roswell, which aired for three seasons but she gained superstar status when she played Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005-2010. The role earned her an Emmy Award and allowed her to transition to successful films such as Knocked Up and 27 Dresses. Heigl currently co-stars on Suits but that show is heading into its final season.
