Kate Winslet Set To Make Limited Series Debut In Mare Of Easttown At HBO

Kate Winslet is heading to TV. The acclaimed actress will make her limited series debut in the HBO limited series Mare of Easttown. Brad Ingelsby is the showrunner on the series and wrote all of the episodes while Gavin O’Connor will serve as director for the entire series.

Winslet will play a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her. The new series sets another example of HBO bringing in A-list talent to headline their shows. Big Little Lies, which starred Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman, won eight Prime Time Emmy Awards for its first season and is set to return for a second. Winslet previously won an Emmy for playing the title role in the 5-part HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce and is a five time Oscar nominee and one-time winner.

Ingelsby’s script work includes the films Out of the Furnace, Run All Night, American Woman and Torrance, the upcoming drama that stars Ben Affleck and was directed by O’Connor and produced by Gray. O’Connor’s films include Tumbleweeds, Miracle, The Accountant, Pride and Glory, Warrior and Torrance. For the small screen, he directed the pilot for the hit FX series The Americans. He separately is developing a new feature based on The Green Hornet and a narrative film on Steve Gleason, the gridiron star whose courageous battle against ALS and preparation of a diary of his life for his unborn son before the disease takes too much out of him, was captured in the 2016 docu Gleason.
