Warner Bros. has released the official trailer for Just Mercy, a true-life story starring and executive produced by Michael B. Jordan.
In the film, also starring Jamie Foxx & Brie Larson, Jordan plays young lawyer Bryan Stevenson and it follows Stevenson’s real-life battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, he had his pick of lucrative jobs but heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Larson). One of his first cases is that of Walter McMillian (Foxx), who, in 1987, was sentenced to die for the murder of an 18-year-old girl, despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence and the fact that the only testimony against him came from a criminal (Tim Blake Nelson) with a motive to lie. Rob Morgan, Rafe Spall, O’Shea Jackson Jr, and Karan Kendrick also star.
Just Mercy opens in limited release on December 25, likely to push for possible awards consideration, and goes wide January 10, 2020.
