Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Scores Massive Debut Overseas

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom doesn’t open stateside until June 22 but the film came roaring into overseas markets with a massive haul.

The sequel debuted to $151.1 million in its international box office opening. The film opened in 48 markets this weekend with the movies debuting at number one in each market. The release pattern here differs from the day-and-date global blowout on 2015’s Jurassic World which rebooted the franchise. That film opened to $158.6 million in like-for-like markets and at today’s exchange rates.

To put its international opening in perspective, the film opened higher than what Solo: A Star Wars Story has made in three weeks in play ($136.1 million). This puts the film in a prime position before its debut in the states, where it’s tracking to open as high as $150 million.
