After weeks of rumors on who would win the role of Cable in the upcoming Deadpool 2, an answer has arrived. Josh Brolin has won the role and will star opposite Ryan Reynolds, who will be reprising his role as Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth. Rumor had it that Cable, a time-traveling mutant soldier in the comics, might be played by Man of Steel actor Michael Shannon or even David Harbour from Stranger Things.
Brolin has a deal to star as Cable for four films and this isn’t his first Marvel role. He’s previously starred as Thanos the Mad Titan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe first in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and again in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Production is set to start this summer in Vancouver.
