Jon M. Chu To Direct Wicked

Wicked has been a musical adaptation in the works for quite some time and at long last, it looks as though there is traction for the film. Jon M. Chu who recently left Disney+’s new Willow series and the director of the upcoming In the Heights has been announced to helm the upcoming musical.

Chu will replace Billy Elliot helmer Stephen Daldry as the director of Universal’s Wicked. The three-time Tony Award-winning stage musical was adapted from Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel by book writer Winnie Holzman and composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who is also collaborating on the screenplay adaptation.

For those unaware, Wicked is one of the most beloved Broadway shows of all time and upon release will certainly be a huge box office hit.
