Jon Bernthal To Star In The Crime Thriller, Stingray

Jon Bernthal is set to star in Stingray, a crime thriller to be directed by Anthony Hayes. Perhaps best known as an Australian actor with movies such as Animal Kindgom under his belt, Hayes also co-wrote the script and is producing with Jon and Michael Schwarz of Deeper Water.

The script is about a young man (Bernthal) caught up in organized crime who accidentally kills the brother of a powerful crime figure. He must then kill one of his own family in the next two days to pay off his blood debt.

Stingray is in pre-production and looking at an April 2017 starting date in Canada. The project will be introduced at the American Film Market in November.

Bernthal is coming off the strong opening of The Accountant, Warner Bros’ thriller in which he co-stars with Ben Affleck. The actor also generated high praise for portraying Marvel’s anti-hero The Punisher in Netflix’s season two of Daredevil. He will next be seen in Baby Driver, Edgar Wright’s crime thriller that opens March 17 2017.
